AFC LEOPARD KNOCKED OUT

Victor Omune helped himself to four goals while Cliff Nyakeya added a brace as AFC Leopards oozed class to see off FC Talanta 6-0 at the Nyayo National Stadium on Thursday afternoon.

Ingwe were in a class of their own, displaying some sexy football and had some goals to show for their biggest win of the season.

Talanta were a gulf of class below and struggled to make any response as Leopards ran rings around them.

Pre-match, FC Talanta were already shorthanded, missing their first choice keeper Kevin Otiala and top scorer Brian Yakhama. The two, alongside defender Alvin ‘Chicha’ Ochieng were involved in an accident on Wednesday, according to coach Ken Kenyatta.

Ochieng had been penciled to start, but pulled out of the starting team and replaced by Peter Njammah due to some apparent discomfort.

As early as the eighth minute, Ingwe had made their intent known. Nyakeya scored the first of his two with a volley inside the box after Talanta keeper Jairus Adira had punched the ball into his feet as he stormed off his line for an aerial duel with Maxwell Otieno.

Talanta tried to make a response with Dennis Oalo forcing Levis Opiyo to a smart low save.

Almost immediately, Leopards almost made it two, but Talanta cleared off the line to deny Omune after Maxwell Otieno’s first effort from Jaffary Owiti’s cross was punched by the keeper.

But there was no denying Omune in the 28th minute when he scored the first of his four with a slamming shot from inside the box after some good build up play from the side.

Leopards had chances to score more with Nyakeya seeing his shot saved before Omune rifled wide with Ingwe going to the break two up.

In the second half, they continued from where they stopped, Omune dipping the ball beyond the keeper for his second just seven minutes after the restart
