Protests In Bahati, Nakuru County As Man Dies In A Bar

Residents in Kamiruri village in Bahati, Nakuru County have protested over the death a man at a local bar.
Accusing the police of laxity, locals said the deceased, Mwangi Chege, spent the whole of Sunday at the drinking den, only to be found dead.
“It is not the first time that we are reporting cases of deaths in bars in Mwisho wa Lami,” a protesting resident told Citizen Digital.
The family of the deceased noted that they received the news of Chege’s demise after officers from Bahati Police Station picked his body from Sideways Bar.
Residents questioned why the authorities took long to respond to distress calls. Area police commander Samson Andaje issued the management of the bar with a closure notice for failing to comply with the law.
Nakuru County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Trade Kuria Muiruri added that they will conduct fresh vetting of all bars.
He also directed county enforcement officers to arrest bar owners whose premises have been operating illegally.
